FIE Catholic Trivia Night

October 9, 2024 | 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Friends and fellow parishioners came together October 9, 2024 at Brewport in Bridgeport, Connecticut for a special Catholic Trivia Night hosted by Foundations in Education as part of the Foundation’s tenth year celebration. The trivia contest included seven teams, with players from across the Diocese, as they competed in a test of their knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Director of The Institute for Catholic Formation for the Diocese of Bridgeport, Dr. Patrick Donovan, served as “Quizmaster, Dr. D.” and led a lively competition, including 10 rounds of 10 questions. Each round focused on different topics including The Old Testament, The New Testament,  and Saints and the Liturgical Calendar to name a few.  Teams collaborated amongst themselves and worked together to come up with their answers.  Between rounds, as scores were tallied, a random drawing of donated prizes was conducted under the “Yankee Swap Rules” which added another layer of levity to the evening.

Only a point and a half separated the top three teams in this friendly competition.  Congratulations to first place team, the “Chatty Catholics” led by Anne McCrory, followed closely by the “Saint No Mountain” made up of young professionals and led by Steven Velardo and in third place “Trinity” with Theresa Ready standing in for Monsignor Kinnally.

Thank you to the sponsors who hosted teams of 6 players and made the evening possible beginning with Doctorate Sponsor, Paula and Thomas McInerney; Bachelor’s Degree Sponsor, Eversource; Associate Sponsors, Maureen and Patrick Donovan, Bruce Lemoine and Holly Doherty-Lemoine, Monsignor Robert Kinnally, Anne and Hugh McCrory and Lisa and Joe Purcell for the St Luke Church Men’s Group.
