2024-2025 Leaders of Tomorrow Reception

“Continually serving others is a form of expressing our faith in and to God and I would like to thank each donor sitting here today for doing just that,” shared Samantha Pierre.

Samantha is a seventh grade student at St. Theresa School in Trumbull, selected as this year’s student speaker at the Annual Leaders of Tomorrow Reception, hosted by Foundations in Education.

Leaders of Tomorrow is a unique program of the Bishop’s Scholarship Fund, which provides need-based scholarships to students in Catholic elementary schools who are identified by their principals as students of good character, strong academics, and leadership potential. Donors to the program transform the lives of children through the gift of Catholic education. In return, sponsors receive letters and pictures from the students they sponsor, and are invited to an annual celebration where they have the opportunity to meet the students and their families.

Samantha shared a Bible verse to express her gratitude to the donor who sponsors a portion of her tuition and to an audience of nearly 300, “Hebrews 6:10 says ‘God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.’”

In his remarks to students, Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano shared, “As your spiritual father, I want to remind you that God loves you and has given you gifts and talents so that you may share them with others. That is what a true leader is. Not someone who seeks authority and power but someone who seeks to give his or her life in service. You are still very young and yet in your own way you are doing that with your classmates and for that I am grateful and I am proud of every single one of you.”

Donors to Foundations in Education who direct their giving to Leaders of Tomorrow help subsidize the cost of a Catholic elementary school tuition for one or more students by providing for each child’s tuition up to $6,000 per year, partial at $3,000 per year, or a quarter at $1,500 per year. As an investor in the education of a child, these special donors provide a life-enhancing gift and help transform the life of a student as well as their own through the gracious and selfless act of giving.
